2012 Internship Completion Requirements
Summer Internship Program Dates: June 18 to August 10, 2012
Application Deadline: April 30th, 2012
Mission
The Summer Internship Program is designed to be mutually beneficial for selected interns and for the American Red Cross Silicon Valley Chapter. The program provides students the opportunity to gain leadership, communication, and practical skills in a professional setting and in their areas of interest, while serving their communities. The program gives ARCSV the ability to better fulfill its mission and services to the community by benefiting from the skills and dedication of a committed group of student interns.
Program
The Summer Internship Program is an eight week program held between the months of June-August .Interns will work through Silicon Valley Chapter’s main office, the San Jose Office (2731 N. First St. San Jose CA)
All internships through the program are unpaid; however, academic credit can be given if applicable to an intern’s situation. Students can also fulfill community service requirements through their participation in the program.
Intern Requirements
Summer interns must be students enrolled at accredited high schools, colleges, or universities. Selected interns should have a genuine interest in the American Red Cross and accept its Seven Fundamental Principals into their value systems. Ideally, interns will continue their involvement with the American Red Cross after completing their internship, although it is not a program requirement. Interns must be available to commit at least 10-15 hour per week for the duration of the internship.
Application Process
Potential Internship Candidates must complete an online application and can also send their current Resume and Cover Letter to Denise.Lu@redcross.org. Once applications are received and reviewed, potential candidates will be contacted for an interview with 1 or more internship positions. Final selections will be up the discretion of the intern position supervisor and internship program lead.
