BAT classes are going great. We have classes most Sundays of the month where we have been enjoying teaching young kids the importance of basic aid training. Our next class is February 26, and we will be having our BAT Instructor Training on March 25.

Manasi Kasbekar

International Services Coordinator
Carolyn Lau
The International Services Committee is dedicated to bringing awareness of international issues and disasters to high school students. We plan events and fundraisers to raise money and awareness for those around the world who need it most. In the past, we've raised money for the Haiti earthquake and Measles Initiative (and continue to do so!). Our next big event is the Refugee Simulation on March 24th from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. You'll get the chance to learn about and understand the struggles refugees go through when being placed in camps, as well as talk to a whole panel of refugee speakers. If this committee sounds like something you want to be a part of, contact Carolyn at carolyn.lau@sbcglobal.net for an application!

Safe Kids instructors teach essential lessons, such as First Aid Basics to preschoolers and young children through local community classes or in schools themselves. It is a fun way to earn community service hours and teach kids the importance of being responsible. If you are interested in becoming an instructor we have a training coming up on March 11th, 2012 at the Silicon Valley Chapter. If interested please sign up on this link :https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AlB58yNVzwnZdFpCVk56Q0d6UXZaZ0ZXVW0yQ0pMOGc and if you have any questions don't hesitate to email Namrata Challa and Sanjana Surkund at rcsafekids@gmail.com. We look forward to meeting all of you!

Community Outreach Services Coordinator
Sumit Minocha
Community Outreach Committee, a group that is part of the American Red Cross, holds CDE (Community Disaster Education) presentations and other events that spread awareness about emergency preparedness. These events and classes are for audiences of all ages and backgrounds including Hispanic, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Korean.
The current project we are working on is to create a short and informative video clip about disaster education that will be played on television in places such as hospital waiting rooms.
